CORPUS CHRISTI

This took place last year in Preston.  It has generated a bit of controversy but I still think it worth posting today on this feast of Corpus Christi.  What do you think?

  1. Very Franciscan! Just think of St Clare repelling the invaders with the Sacred Host in the monstrance!

  2. I agree, Patricius. It took great faith on Clare's part and the same for the two Franciscans. Thanks for your comment. As always, your input is valued and much appreciated. God bless you.

  3. I was moved but slightly apprehensive in case there was disrespect of Our Lord present there. However there is no doubt the church needs to get out and be more visual to evangelise. My preference would be for outside processions and events. How many outside processions were there today for the Solemnity of Corpus Christi I wonder? To restrict our Lord's presence solely within walls and behind closed doors is surely not all that our Saviour wants for his bride the Church. A thought provoking post thanks.

  4. Like you, Fr Mark, I have mixed feelings about this. I was concerned that there would be disrespectful & snide remarks during this public display of faith but I was also very moved & inspired by those Christians who knelt or stood respectfully during the exposition. We should always be proud, not hesitant, to proclaim our Christian faith for it is a wonderful gift.

I know of two processions today. One is at Cardiff Castle at 2:30 & the other is at Llantarnam Abbey, Cwmbran, at 3 o'clock. Let us hope that the rain stays away, for this afternoon at least.

Thanks for your input, Fr Mark. I appreciate your taking the time to leave a comment & I hope you will visit again. God bless you.

  6. Breadgirl! Thank you for posting this. I had never seen it before. I loved it. I too felt apprehensive at first, wondering how the Blessed Sacrament would be received, but ended up being moved and encouraged by the reverence such a diverse group of people showed.

On another note, I have tagged you in a meme called 11 things. Don't feel under pressure to fill it in. It took me a lot of thinking!

  7. Hello Monica
Thanks for visiting & for your comment. I think the video is lovely too. So many people were so respectful & unashamed to kneel before Our Lord. That is how we should be, unashamed, respectful and very grateful. God bless you, Monica.
