Saint David Lewis, the last Welsh Martyr, was executed on 27th August 1679. The site of his martyrdom is in the grounds of Porth Y Carne House, opposite the Catholic Church in Usk.
Every year, on the last Sunday of August, a pilgrimage in the Saint's honour (click here) takes place from the Catholic Church to his grave in the churchyard of St Mary's Priory Church.
