IRENA SENDLER, A TRUE HERO

One hundred years ago today Irena Sendler was born in Warsaw. Her work in the Warsaw Ghetto during World War II saved the lives of thousands of innocent children. If you have never heard of this courageous lady, please watch this video and see true love in action amid the horrors brought about by bigotry.

  2. What a marvellous example to us all. Thank you for posting. I don't think I've heard of this amazing woman before.

If it's possible to gain anything positive from the dreadful evil of the holocaust it must be that it inspired many courageous saints, some of whom gave their lives helping the victims of this atrocity.

  4. Hello Friends
Thank you all for your visits and comments. I think this unassuming little Polish lady is just wonderful and I couldn't let the centenary of her birth pass without honouring her in some small way. Her story really deserves to be told. Did you know that she was nominated for the Nobel Prize several years ago and she lost out to AL GORE? Isn't life just amazing! Anyway, I thank you three ladies for your interest and support. Please call again. God bless you Cathy, Miss Ellen E and Rosemary.

  7. Hello Esther G & Victor
Thanks for visiting. It is always great to hear from you. I never heard of Irena Sendler until two years ago when I read her obituary in our paper. I was really impressed and have looked up as much information on her as I could. I think she is a true hero and, yes, it is amazing that AL GORE beat her to the Nobel Prize. Never mind, though - I am sure she now has a much more valuable prize. Thanks again and God bless you both.
